Definition:
Surveying is the art and
science of determining the relative position of various points on the surface
or near of the earth by measuring the horizontal and vertical distances and
locating the points on field.
Introduction Of Chain
Surveying
China survey is a traditional method of surveying which does not have much accuracy. This survey is done for a less important project or to get preliminary information about a important project. In this survey, China is used to measure the length of survey lines. There is different type of chain. its selection according to the purpose of the survey.. All this information is entered in the field book. Introduction of Chain Surveying
Chain
Instrument
These instrument used in China survey are made of iron or steel
wire having 8 to 12 gauge wire is used
for this purpose. Each chain is made up of small pieces and one piece is called
a link. Three small elliptical rings are used to connect these pieces, making
it easy to open and close the chain. Brass is available on both sides. The
length of the chain is measured with the help of this chain. China is used to
measure the offset.

Types
Of Chain
Different types of China
are used in China surveys. Which is as follows?
·
Engineer’s chain
·
Gunter’s chain
·
Metric chain
·
Revenue chain
Engineer’s
Chain
This chain has 100
links in this chain and each link is one
foot long. This length is the distance between the middle colored centers on
either side of the link. The length of the ring on the edges of the chain is
shorter than other links because it includes the length of the manual. After
every tenth of link is a piece of metal
of a certain shape called a Talley. From its shape one gets an estimate of ten
feet. In this way, it is not necessary to count the Selenium coasts of China. Rather,
the counting is started from the Talley.
Gunter’s
chain
This chain is 66 feet long
and has hundreds of links. Thus, the length of a link is 0.66 feet. It is used
to measure chain miles and furlongs. The distance of one furlong can be
measured by measuring the distance of ten chains. Measuring the distance from
this chain, the complete chain and the number of links are noted.
Metric
Chain
The chain measuring in
meters is called the metric chain. It is available in different lengths, but
chains with lengths of 20 25 and 30 meters are mostly used. The metric chain
has five links in one meter, so the length of one link is two decimeters. In
this way, after every five meters, there is a Talley of a specific shape. There
are one 100 links in 20 meter chain and 150 links in 30 meter chain.
Revenue
Chain
It is used to measure
agricultural land. It is easy to know the agricultural and population areas. This
chain is 30 feet long and has 16 links. Thus the length of a link is two feet. Two
handles measuring one foot are mounted on both sides.
